PDXWIT loves to celebrate the rich diversity of our community. At this year’s Pride Happy Hour event, our theme’s all about Peace, Love, and Revolution!
During Pride month, we honor the courage of trans women, including trans women of color, and other vulnerable communities that were on the frontlines of 1969’s Stonewall uprising in the struggle for equal rights.
That struggle hasn’t ended. If anything, it’s become an outright revolution in the 21st century. And PDXWIT is in it for the long haul.
Come one, come all and join PDXWIT and our host, DAT in celebration of our LGBTQIA community! Together, we can continue to create a better world together, for each other, and for generations to come.
Agenda:
* 5:00pm Doors Open
* 5:35pm Programming Begins
* 6:00pm Networking
* 7:00pm Event Ends

The Starting Line: Entity Formation, Organizational Documentation, and Issuing Equity
When you are starting a new business, there are many factors that need to be thoughtfully considered. In the first session of our Summer Series we will focus on topics relating to entity formation, organizational documentation, and issuing equity. One of Lane Powell’s tax experts, Eric Kodesch, will offer insight into the tax considerations when selecting an entity. Lane Powell corporate attorneys, Liz Davis, Brandon Mahrt, and Joe Cerne, will also provide additional insights into initial organizational documents, including articles, bylaws/operating agreements, IP assignments, and shareholder agreements. Early-stage financing documents such as SAFE’s and convertible notes will also be discussed.
Startups & Emerging Companies Summer Series – Growing Your Business the Right Way
Lane Powell is pleased to launch its Startups & Emerging Companies Summer Series, an educational and engaging summer program where entrepreneurs, executives, and investors can come to learn, connect, and grow. Educational topics will range from entity formation all the way to preparing for an M&A exit with each of the three events geared towards startups, operating entities, entrepreneurs, and investors.
Whether you are already running a business, or are still in the early stages of building your startup, the Summer Series will be an informative networking event and will offer the opportunity for you to learn and discuss important topics that every business should be considering in a relaxed environment. Each event will kick off with a networking social, followed by a presentation and Q&A session, and will cap off with beverages on the patio and an additional opportunity to connect with others in the PNW startups & emerging companies space.

In the second session of our Summer Series, members of Lane Powell’s Labor & Employment team, Courtney McFate and Brenna McLaughlin, will discuss the risks of misclassifying workers, and the difference between a volunteer, an independent contractor, an “intern,” and an employee.
