OEN Member NewsA Fashion Show? Give Us Moore! (Portland Monthly)

In the two years since we named Andrea Moore as an emerging designer to watch, she’s proved us right. The deft and experienced designer—she has years of fashion experience but only launched her own brand in 2013, in Los Angeles, and expanded to Portland shortly thereafter—has rattled the crowds at shows like Fade to Light and Unmentionable, and opened a beautiful retail space on bustling Southeast 28th Avenue.

The spacious shop boasts vegan options for men and in women in the way of colorful patterned varsity jackets, tailored pants, and box dresses. This Friday, April 27, Moore tackles her first solo runway show in Portland with a massive collection debut, scrapping the standard dozen looks for a whopping 45 ensembles of men’s wear and women’s wear, though Moore says that “Ninety percent of the collection is gender neutral.” Yes, 45 ensembles, meaning every model in town will be at this show. Moore says they had custom fabrics created for the show, and then created all the pieces in house in her signature ultra-neutral color palette.

Taking place at the industrial North Warehouse, the show turns into a full night of entertainment with local R&B group Talk Modern opening the show, and Northwest Dance Project doing street-modern moves between sets. “I love how streetwear is so present in the dance world, and am so excited to bring them together,” Moor says. “To show how fabric moves on the body, and not just walking.”

The collaborative event is also a fundraiser for the American Civil Liberties Union, with half of ticket proceeds benefiting the freedom defenders, along with a killer raffle featuring everything from skincare line Blendidly to gift cards from Old Portland gem Holman’s. Come early, eat dinner from the Tight Tacos food truck, and take in some local fashion.
