OEN NewsCelebrate (and Learn From) the Best in Social Media: OEN Co-Sponsors the SoMe Awards & Forum on May 22

Portland is once again attracting national social media talent with the SoMe (Social Media) Awards & Forum taking place on May 22, 2014 at Castaway in Northwest Portland. OEN is a proud co-sponsor of this annual event, now in its sixth year.

Co-presented by TMMPDX.COM and the Social Media Club of Portland, the awards program spotlights groundbreaking social media campaigns and honors top social innovations by marketing agencies, in-house teams, and freelancers from across the United States. The SoMe Awards & Forum are a fantastic opportunity for those to celebrate accomplishments in the ever-growing world of social media.

“Great social media work needs to be celebrated, and we’re honored to be co-presenting such a wonderful event that not only provides well-deserved recognition, but also shares know-how and strategies to all who attend,” says Terry “Starbucker” St. Marie, President of the Social Media Club of Portland (and OEN board member).

This year, a special afternoon event has been added: A Social Media forum from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM, anchored by keynote presentations by two honored SoMe award recipients, Pamela Slim and Brian Solis, and featuring panels with the 2014 SoMe Nominees and other industry thought leaders.  They will be talking in more detail about the social media campaigns, tools, and trends that are driving better brands, excellence in customer service & engagement, and higher sales and profit.

Pam Slim is an award-winning author, business coach and speaker. Her thriving coaching business focuses on early stage and startup companies looking for “leadership mojo.” Her keynote at the SoMe Forum will be about her best-selling book, “Body of Work,” and how re-framing the way we think about our life and careers can energize and expand our future opportunities.

Brian Solis is a digital analyst, sociologist, and futurist, who has studied and influenced the effects of emerging technology on business, marketing, and culture. He is also globally recognized as one of the most prominent thought leaders and published authors in new media. In his SoMe Forum keynote, Brian will make the case that customer experience is the new marketing – a concept he calls “connected consumerism.” He will explore in a fun, visual and insightful way how connected consumerism breaks down into Four Moments of Truth, as revealed in his latest book, “What’s The Future of Business.
