OtherElemental volunteers give back to Children’s Book Bank

Did you know that in low income neighborhoods, the ratio of books to children is one book per 300 children? (*source: Portland Children’s Book Bank)

Recently, the employees of Portland startup Elemental Technologies volunteered their time at the Children’s Book Bank repairing books that will be donated to preschool or younger aged children that are at the poverty level or lower. Elemental has a strong tradition of giving back to the community, and is a participant in OEN’s Entrepreneurs Foundation of the Northwest (EFNW) program.

According to employees who took part, they had a great time perusing the books they were cleaning and having nostalgia over their favorite childhood books. And as a result of the Elemental team’s effort, the Children’s Book Bank has clean set of gently used books to deliver locally to children who might not otherwise have books of their own at home.
