OEN NewsOregon Entrepreneurs Network Announces Final Angel Oregon Investment in 2012 Winners Closes at a Record $386,000

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 3, 2012, Portland, Ore. — The Oregon Entrepreneurs Network (OEN) is pleased to announce that the final investment by OEN Angel Oregon in this year’s top-two winning companies, Chez Gourmet from Marie of Wilsonville and Tellagence of Portland, closed at $386,000, a new record for the state’s premier angel investing conference.

Angel Oregon’s final investment in Chez Gourmet from Marie, the healthy food company from Wilsonville that was the winner of OEN’s 2012 Angel Oregon conference, will total $286,000. The investment is $36,000 more than the amount announced at the end of the conference in March, thanks to additional angel funding that came in after the event.

Second-place 2012 Angel Oregon winner, Tellagence, a developer of social media analytics software, will also receive a larger investment from Angel Oregon than originally announced, with a final investment now totaling $100,000.

“We are thrilled that the final angel investment in this year’s winning companies has closed at a significantly higher amount than originally envisioned,” said Shelley Gunton, OEN’s Angel Oregon 2012 program chair. “The increased funding is a testament to both of these exciting companies but also to the active and engaged angel investor community that is supporting entrepreneurs in Oregon.”

“Participating in the Angel Oregon conference, in itself, was a phenomenal exercise for a small emerging company to go through. It prompted me to re-energize my business plan and get really clear on a strategy for immediate and future growth,” said Marie Jensen Osmunson, founder of Chez Gourmet from Marie. “It is both gratifying and humbling to know so many people believed in and chose Chez Gourmet from Marie as the Angel Oregon 2012 winner.”

“It was great to see so many investors involved in a process to not only help startups but also grow the investment community,” said Matt Hixson, Tellagence co-founder and CEO. “The diversity of the companies in the finals was a great representation of the business landscape here in Oregon. Tellagence was honored to be part of Angel Oregon this year and grateful to be selected for investment.”
