Your brand has a personality, but how do you create it?
Belle Bezdicek will take you through a creative workshop to help you define your brand’s characteristics through a series of word webs and short phrases. Then learn how to collect visual inspiration to define the brand’s personality by assembling mood boards. Finally, you can explore concepts using combinations of typography and marks.
Belle Bezdicek: Printmaker, freelance designer and instructor, Belle has taught for 2 decades teaching students how to define their personal identities and design their portfolio. She has also worked with clients ranging from government agencies to local brewers, creating their brands and clarifies their messaging. As an artist, she produces limited addition prints and sculptures for an eCommerce site called Bez & Kin.
This workshop will help you create a strong visual start to your brand’s identity.
Workshop will cover:
•Defining Who am I?•Learn the process of defining your brand•Learn why is it important to identify traits about you and/or the business•Collect visual references and resources to create your brands aesthetic•Identify traits through word webs
•Rapid visualization exercise•How to concept & build type, abstraction and representational ideas
Hands on Exercises include:• Build a brief about you and/or your business• Build on the character, style, and mentality of the “client” in this brief.• What are the key “ideas” that you want to get across with the identity? Who are you? What do you do?• Why should we care? Create a series of mood boards for the following visual analysis:• Color, texture & photos (colors, textures & photos you identify with)• Icons and symbols collage (icons, symbols and logos that you identify with)• Type samples (just typographic solutions only) Ideation & concepts:• 5 type only concepts using the full name or initials• 5 abstract shapes that symbolize you (shapes, lines and textures)• 5 iconic shapes that represent you (simple flower drawings if florist) An answer for each concept for the question:• “What does this say about you or your company?”
