The OEN PubTalk™ is our flagship monthly happy hour — a perfect starting point for new community members and a great place for established members to make new connections. As always, the program will be preceded by time for casual networking and will include free appetizers and pizza. Registration begins at 5:15 p.m.

A shareholder at Buchalter | Ater Wynne, Ernie Bootsma has been actively representing start-up and emerging growth businesses, family businesses, and mature companies, since 1990. His legal practice encompasses company formation, finance, governance, M&A, as well as intellectual property relating to trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and licensing.

Josh Carter

Labs Manager, WeWorks and Principal, 1859 Ventures

Josh Carter is a US Navy Vet, a serial entrepreneur, a speaker, a podcast host, and a mentor for early-stage startups. For over 15 years, he worked for companies like Pacific Bell and Google on large scale projects. He led BrightWork, a developer infrastructure company, into the Techstars accelerator and helped secure venture funding. Josh also led a Techstars affiliated non-profit called Patriot Boot Camp. He saw the need for a true Oregon seed fund fund to fill a gap and help founders at their earliest stages, and so he founded 1859 Ventures and plans to invest solely in Oregon startups.

 

Maggie Reilly

Business Lender, Craft3

Maggie Reilly is a Business Lender at Craft3, responsible for generating new commercial loans in the Portland market and the rural surrounding areas. Prior to joining Craft3, Maggie was the director of CASA Community Loan Fund, a CDFI focused on rural affordable housing across Oregon. She was also the director of Family Economic Opportunity Programs where she oversaw the country’s largest statewide matched savings account network at CASA of Oregon. Maggie has worked in Portland with two other CDFIs, MicroEnterprise Services of Oregon and Mercy Corps NW. 

 

Ana Chaud

TiE Oregon Board Member

Ana Chaud started her career as a financial and business manager in San Francisco Bay Area. In January 2014, Ana co-founded Garden Bar, the first fast casual, salad concept restaurant in the NW. In five years, Garden Bar grew ~600% in revenue and expanded from 9 to 120 employees. In 2019, Garden Bar was acquired by Evergreens, which provided Ana with a full circle experience – from concept to exit. Ana just joined the Board at TiE and will share her insights on TiE Angels.

 

David Weiss

Business Finance Officer, Business Oregon

David has served as a business finance officer with Oregon Business Development Department (Business Oregon) for nineteen years, working with the Department’s direct loan, loan guarantee, and Industrial Development Bond financing programs for business. He covers Portland Metro and Columbia County.
