OEN Westside PubTalk: Learning from Failure
Come to the Westside PubTalk to hear from local entrepreneurs who have applied lessons from failing startups to successful startups.

The OEN PubTalk™ is our flagship monthly happy hour — a perfect starting point for new community members and a great place for established members to make new connections. As always, the program will be preceded by time for casual networking and will include free appetizers and pizza. Registration begins at 5:15 p.m.
Cost: $15 for OEN and Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce members; $25 for non-members. We take walk-ins, but prices will be $20 for OEN members and $35 for non-members at the door. Snacks will be provided. Beer, wine, and soda available for purchase.

Co-Founder, The Dyrt
Sarah is the Co-founder of The Dyrt and an active member of the Portland start-up community. The Dyrt is focused on ending the pain of searching for campgrounds online and is now the #1 camping app, with over 500,000+ user-submitted locations, reviews and tips across the U.S. Before founding The Dyrt, Sarah had a long career in international higher education, living, working (and sometimes camping!) in Japan, England and India.
Co-Founder & CEO, Take Two
Sarah Pool is the Co-Founder & CEO of Take Two, a company creating plant-based food from brewers spent grain. Prior to Take Two, Sarah was the Founder & CEO of Pacific Superfood Snacks, acquired by Made In Nature in 2014. She has won awards such as Entrepreneur of the Year and Top Women Run B Corps. Sarah is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley (M.A., B.A.) where she was also Team Captain of the Women’s Basketball team.
Former Founder and CEO, Sightbox
Travis Rush has founded and operated multiple companies, including a remodeling business in his college days at OSU, a restaurant that went bankrupt, a music career that never made a profit, a web application development business that, although a bumpy ride at times, managed to feed and clothe his family for 18 years. Most recently he launched Sightbox, a contact lens subscription service designed to provide end-to-end logistical support. Beginning with setting up your first eye doctor appointment continuing to the arrival of that first box of contact lenses on your doorstep. Sightbox was founded in 2012 and remained a bootstrap operation until 2015 at which time it raised $4.2 million from investors. In 2017, during its Series A funding round, Sightbox was acquired by Johnson & Johnson, one of the investors that were considering investing in the round.
Former Founder and CEO, Cloudability
Mat founded Cloudability in 2011 and led it until it was acquired by Apptio in 2019. Prior to Cloudability, Mat held executive positions with four startups, and key technology roles at Frito-Lay, Pepsi Cola and Goldman Sachs. Originally from the UK and now residing in Portland, Mat is well known as a mentor and advisor to startups and non-profits across the US.
