The OEN PubTalk™ is our flagship monthly happy hour — a perfect starting point for new community members and a great place for established members to make new connections. The program will be preceded by time for casual networking. Registration begins at 5:15 p.m.

Jane Ullman

Managing Director, Portland Office of Silicon Valley Bank

Jane has been the CFO of multiple young technology companies including The Clymb, an e-commerce company in the outdoor industry; ShiftWise, a healthcare SaaS company; RuleSpace, a security SaaS company; and myAgro a mobile technology/agriculture company. She has extensive fundraising experience, having raised more than $150MM from VCs, PEs, angels, lenders, leasing companies and impact investors. Jane was also an investment banker with the World Bank/IFC where she structured and negotiated financing for startups in East Africa. She worked for Dole Foods in Chile and for The North Face and began her career as a mechanical engineer in solar energy. Jane holds an MBA from Stanford and a BS in mechanical engineering, geology, and math from Vanderbilt. She spends her free time hiking, biking, backpacking, skiing, running, playing soccer and traveling to remote corners of the world whenever possible.

Nitin Rai

Managing Director of Elevate Capital, chair of TiE Angels

Nitin Rai is the Founder and Managing Director of Elevate Capital, a venture fund that includes the Elevate Inclusive Fund, a seed stage fund that invests in diverse and underserved entrepreneurs in the Pacific Northwest. Since 2007, Nitin has been an active angel investor, mentor and is a founding charter member and President of the Board of TiE Oregon, and chair of TiE Angels. With Nitin, TiE Oregon has grown to a full-fledged angel investment group with a successful mentoring program. It has launched several education and accelerator programs including TYE and TIE XL. TiE Oregon Angels has invested more than $12 million in 52 startups with six exits that returned over 3X in cash to the angels. TiE Oregon ranks in the top five chapters globally and routinely receives recognition for its angel investment, women, and youth programs. Nitin has invested in more than 50 startups, both personally and through his fund, since 2011.

 

Robin Wang

Executive Director, Ascent Funding

Robin Wang has over 20 years of small business ownership and entrepreneurship experience in a variety of industries including technology, media and social responsibility. Most recently, he owned a media business that promoted local green economies in several regions throughout the West. At Ascent Funding, Robin couples his passion for business and finance to help minority- and women-owned businesses access capital so that all businesses can have the same opportunity to grow and thrive. Robin is a native New Yorker who has called Portland home since 2003 and has degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and Columbia University.

 

Jim Coonan

Entrepreneur and Investor

Jim has been deeply involved with Oregon’s entrepreneurial community, having previously served as chair of the Oregon Entrepreneur’s Network (OEN) and the Portland Angel Network (PAN) which through his leadership led to the development of the Oregon Angel Fund (OAF). Jim also served as Director of Business Alliances for the Oregon University System and with Vice Chancellor Diane Vines was lead staff for the Economic Development Joint Boards Working Group, a collaboration between the state’s university system and the state’s Economic Development Commission. Jim has also played a key role in the development of many of the state’s early-stage funds and is an investor in many of the state’s start-ups. Coonan graduated from Stanford University and holds an MBA from Northwestern University.
