SOREDI is our premier organization for the development and support of emerging businesses, especially those aspiring toward substantial growth and participation in the traded sector (i.e., exports from our region). SOREDI can lend money to startups, plus it provides a host of supportive programs.

The Small Business Development Centers provides in-depth, one-on-one guidance to businesses and prospective entrepreneurs at no fee. The SBDC business advisors have expertise in a broad spectrum of business issues. We can help you gather information, evaluate, plan, and create systems for your business that lead to greater profit, job creation, and job retention.

Medford SBDC
Housed in the SOU Higher Education Center, the Medford SBDC can help you develop a business plan, work up financials, and generally get you started on the road to success. We offer one-on-one counseling as well as a wide range of classes.

Grants Pass SBDC
Staffed with a counseling team of experienced small business owners and business executives, the RCC Small Business Development Center provides rapid response support to both prospective and existing businesses. Our counselors listen to your needs and provide practical advice based on real world experience to help you make better informed decisions.

SOU Market Research Institute
The Southern Oregon University Market Research Institute delivers in-depth, applied market research to Oregon Small Business Development Center Network (OSBDCN) clients around the state who have established businesses that are ready for growth and job creation.

Sustainable Valley Technology Group is an economic development initiative founded to create a more prosperous economy in Southern Oregon. We offer a business accelerator to support the growth of innovative, start-up companies in Southern Oregon—it may be just what you need to get started.

The Angel Investment Network’s goals are to increase the amount of seed capital available in southern Oregon; to highlight early-stage startup ventures and provide them with possible opportunities for funding; and to demonstrate a commitment to building a strong economy through supporting entrepreneurship in southern Oregon. We offer a competitive funding process for promising startups every spring.

Programs & Services

Jefferson Grapevine

Monthly educational session on a topic of great interest to startups, like marketing, business plans, and finance (3-5pm), followed by educational and networking programs (5-7:30 pm). Meet angel investors, schmooze with other entrepreneurs, and pick up the skills you need. A must for budding startups.

The Technical Advisory Group (TAG Team)

SOREDI’s volunteers can hook you up with a seasoned mentor to help you with your specific challenges. Typical engagements are twice a month for two hours, totally free of charge. The mentors love it, and the startups find it incredibly valuable.

The Sounding Board

Every Wednesday morning you can drop by SOREDI’s office (call ahead for a time slot, 541-773-8946) and run your idea or your problem by a senior TAG Team volunteer. He or she will give you suggestions for what to do next…and provide a fresh pair of eyes on your idea.

AvistaCenter for Entrepreneurship

The Center for Entrepreneurship is jointly sponsored by RCC and Avista Utilities. Our entrepreneurship program is a stimulating and exciting learning process integrating real-world experience with a highly engaged classroom environment. The program objective is to enable students to become entrepreneurs by learning through a process designed to optimize the successful launch and ongoing operations of the business. The program runs from September through May, and it is Southern Oregon’s premier educational experience for startups.
