Profile O&A

Q. What are your impressions of the entrepreneurial community in the Northwest?  How would you like to see it grow/change?
A. The entrepreneurial community is strong in numbers, but weak in the ability to garner financing.  The 'mom&pop' stores have resources, and the technologically 'sexy' products seeking several million $ in financing garner funds, but there is a decided gap in the ability to fund companies in the middle range.  We have done reasonably well in this respect, but I hear no end of money-raising-woes for companies in a similar position as ours.

Q. How are you involved in the entrepreneurial community and how has it helped shape your business?
A. Outside of OEN events, we have not been overly involved in the entrepreneurial community.

Q. How does OEN assist you/how are you specifically benefiting from the organization?
A. The networking opportunities afforded by events such as PubTalk have been invaluable.

Q. What are your favorite websites/magazines/events/ organizations that you read/attend to keep yourself informed about the business community/your specific market?
A. 1) http://www.cascadiagbc.org/, 2) Trim Tab magazine

Q. Do you have any advice for apiring entrepreneurs?
A. Identify your knowledge gaps, endeavor to build a team that plugs those gaps, and treat those team members as equals in terms of respect and remuneration!
