OEN Member Spotlight - Mark Tipperreiter of Blanketbooster, Inc.
World’s only provider of a more comfortable night’s sleep with a self-assembling blanket lift that creates a “tent for the toes”.
Q: What does your business do?
A: We make and sell the Blanketbooster, the world’s only self-assembling, tool-free blanket lift for the home.
Q: What problem does it solve?
A: The Original Blanketbooster and Sole-O provide relief from the pressure of bed covers on the toes, which allows the feet, ankles, hips and knees to lie naturally in bed for a more comfortable night’s sleep.
Q: How did you come up with this business idea?
A: I wasn’t sleeping comfortably in bed because of the weight of the bed covers on my own feet. My high-stress, fast-paced corporate job demanded that I perform at my best every day which meant getting the best possible night’s sleep. So I developed it for me and when others found out about it they asked how they could get one for themselves!
Q: What are your biggest challenges?
A: Getting exposure for our product in the marketplace and educating potential customers about a solution they don’t know exists for a problem they’ve had for so long they may have just accepted their condition.
Q: What are your goals for the company?
A: Gain massive market exposure by partnering with medical professionals, nursing homes, mattress manufacturers and the hospitality industry with the ultimate goal of being acquired by a health care products manufacturer and distributor.
Q: Are you looking for funding?
A: Yes!
Q: What would funding enable you to do?
A: Funding would provide the capital necessary for a national marketing and advertising campaign designed to generate as many sales as possible sales in the shortest possible timeframe.
Q: Have you been an entrepreneur before?
A: Yes. I have 5+ years of experience as an independent distributor for a $1B health and wellness company in the direct sales and marketing industry.
Q: What brought you to OEN? What do you hope to gain from membership?
A: Angel Oregon attracted me to OEN, and the resources available and the human connections to be made will keep me with the group.
Q: What has been the biggest surprise in your entrepreneurial experience to date?
A: The broad appeal of our product outside of our target markets – namely, pets and the funeral industry. Ask me about it in person sometime ;)
Q: What has been the best entrepreneurial advice you’ve received?
A: Don’t ever “go it alone.” Ask the right people for help when you need it and they will help you.
