OEN's Entrepreneurs Foundation of the Northwest (EFNW) – Helping Northwest Entrepreneurs Give Back

OEN's Entrepreneurs Foundation of the Northwest (EFNW) encourages corporate philanthropy in early-stage and emerging growth businesses and makes it easy for member companies to make meaningful contributions to the community.

Over 50 companies have joined forces with EFNW since its founding in 2001, and collectively have returned over $10 million to the Portland/SW Washington community in dollars raised, volunteer hours served, and goods and services delivered.

Funding Future Philanthropy Now

Early-stage and emerging growth companies may not have the time or cash for community support, but believe in the value of corporate social responsibility and giving back to the communities in which they do business.

With the EFNW program, companies set aside equity interests now that will fund the company's future philanthropic endeavors.  Setting aside stock in the early years is easy and shows community commitment to the public, the company team, prospective employees, and partners.

How to Give Back with EFNW

Companies make a donation of equity to OEN's Entrepreneurs Foundation of the NW, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.  When the stock becomes liquid through IPO or acquisition, this equity is used to fund the company’s corporate foundation or is gifted directly to qualified charities on the company's behalf.  A portion of the equity proceeds remains with EFNW to support the program's philanthropic efforts in the community.

For the first two years after the initial equity donation, EFNW will assist with developing a community involvement program that meets the company’s strategic goals and objectives.

Benefits of Giving through EFNW
  • Community Support & Enhanced Branding: EFNW companies are recognized as leaders in Corporate Social Responsibility and Citizenship.
  • Strategic Advantages: EFNW community activities create leadership & team building opportunities that carry over to the workplace.  Employee teams become stronger and more focused on working together to achieve corporate goals.
  • Maximize Resources: EFNW participation enables companies to be good corporate citizens, build stronger employee teams, and create a culture of giving back without taking time and resources away from the company’s core mission.
